UBIMET, one of the largest private weather service providers in Mid- and Southeasteurope exclusively use products and services from Metrilog to connect to meteorological weather stations.
„As a fundamental advantage of the Metrilog system" UBIMET describes the fact, that data from diverse weather stations types and also from data loggers from different manufacturers, automatically arrive at the UBIMET Datacenter in a uniform format.
Through the flexibility and competence of Metrilog, different data formats of four different weather station manufacturers are harmonized. By outsourcing the data transmission UBIMET has been able to reduce expenses for maintaining the stations and thus significantly reduce cost.UBIMET uses the data on the one hand for high resolution weather forecast for infrastructure operators, energy and water management, building management as well as for locally precise severe weather warnings.
Collected data are also of significant importance for key projects and services offered by UBIMET:
- Fire prediction along railroad tracks
- Automated measurement of snow level through ultrasonic and laser along alpine railtracks and road sectors e.g. instructed by ÖBB (Austrian Railroad Organization)
- Alerting at high wind speed at bridges, Power Plants, Wind Farms High-speed trains etc.
- Flood-alarm system at bridges (measure distance between water and bridge)
- Modeling of small sized meteorological phenomena (cone effect of winds, valleywinds, temperature abnormalities, local snowfall)
- Calibration of amount of precipitation for the European Weather Radar Association
